Client: Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis

Logo design | Signage | Promotional materials | Website

Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis support women and girls in the Glasgow and Clyde area who have experienced rape or sexual violence.

We created new branding for the organisation along with brand guidelines on how the brand language should be applied across all communication channels. We defined the surrounding visual language including typography and complimentary visual imagery which translated into their signage and branded materials.

We applied the new branding to external and internal signage and created the design of visual assets for incorporating into the design of brochures and training materials.

We designed and built a new website featuring information about their services, how to access them, how to donate and links to their social media channels. Key to the website was to ensure that the helpline number was prominent, information was accessible in different languages and, most importantly, the site could be accessed quickly and easily.

“Reimagining a brand is so much more than a logo, colours or website. It’s about taking the identity and vision of your organisation and representing it uniquely with passion, potential, and purpose. I feel this is an even more important duty when it comes to the identity of a rape crisis organisation likes ours.

I worked with Arken to do this over 12 months or so for Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis. It took the time it did because it had to involve more people than just me, Karen, and Andrea. Our revised identity had to consider survivors’ voices and views, as well as our staff, who represent our organisation every single day in their work. I found this process motivating, and enjoyed too the challenging elements, in order to end up with what we have.

I have overseen brand redevelopments before. The experience was nowhere near as positive and fulfilling as the one I led with Arken. This is why they also continue to be alongside us, and haven’t just opted out once we got the new brand in place. We trust Arken, and they ‘get’ us. ”
