Client: Colonsay Beverages Ltd
Logo design | Label design | Packaging
To market their new whisky brand, Colonsay Beverages were looking to visually create something that stood out from the rest of the whisky crowd – a piece of art that would look as good on a poster as it did on a label.
Taking inspiration from vintage railway, boating and holiday posters, Colonsay Beverages’ Keith Bonnington had then approached Skye-based illustrator, Peter McDermott to assist him in telling the story of their journey across the islands in search of whiskies for their especially-blended malts.
We then added a distinctive look and feel to the original illustration work – adding textures, layers and depth to help convey a more authentic vintage look and feel. The illustrations were then coupled with layouts and typography for the label and packaging design that were sympathetic to the brand’s visual inspiration.
The result was a standout vintage period creative style that has since proved to be highly collectable, with our design work featuring across the series of strictly limited bottlings released under The Scalasaig label.
